Is it normal to see a therapist?

Yes! Many people see a therapist for assistance with life challenges and for many different reasons. People need people to heal. In general, many people come for immediate crisis, personal growth or ongoing support.

What do I expect first session?

I will take the time to understand your thought processes, emotions, fears, and concerns. Finding the right therapist that you can trust and openly talk with is important to me.  I will ask you questions and listen to you so I understand how you think and feel. I work with you to talk about the symptoms you're experiencing  and what may be indications of that would warrant further focus.

How long is a session?

Sessions are 50 minutes.

How long do I need to come?

The number of therapy sessions depends on several factors and is very individualized based onyour goals and reasons for seeking therapy. Factors that play a role in length of therapy are how complex the problem is, the length of time you've experienced the problem, the amount of energy you devote to working on the identified issues between sessions. Again, this is very individualized and we can come up with plan and re-evaluate as needed.

How frequently do I need to come?

I generally recommend weekly sessions. There are times when twice a week sessions may be needed. We then taper off sessions as treatment comes closer to an end.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapy is always confidential with a few legal exceptions. If there is a belief that you are at risk of harming yourself or someone else or if I suspect child abuse or neglect, I am required to notify the authorities.  Outside of these parameters, I take great pride in providing a safe, private, confidential place.

Do you accept my insurance?

I am not in-network with any insurance companies. Many people have an out of network benefit on their insurance plan.  I can provide you with a receipt every month that you may submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. The amount you may be reimbursed depends on your policy.

What about payment?

Payment is due at time of service. Credit cards are accepted.  Sessions are $150 per hour.
